A prominent name in the field of Carnatic classical music . She plays the Veena and is a A Grade artiste and has been closely associated with the All India Radio(AIR) and Doordarshan (DD) for a long time.

Born at Kandukur in Prakasam District,Andhra Pradesh, Smt.Subhashini learnt the Veena under masters . At the tender age of   9 ,she received training from Vainka Siromani Veena Gurukulapati , LateShri Vasa Krishnamurthy fo Vizianagaram and then on from Kala Praveena,Late Dr. Manchala Jagannadha Rao of Hyderabad. Further , She had the rare privilege of honing her skills under the guidance of the world renowned Veena Vidwan Mahamahopadhyaya , Late Dr.Emani Shankara Sastry.

Smt.Subhashini gave her maiden performance on the Veena in 1975 at Visakhapatnam and ever since has performed at various places on numerous occasions . She has particpated inthe celebration activities of the South Zone Cultural Center at the Brihadeeswara Temple , Tanjore (1994) Sree Seetharama Bhaktha Samajam,Chennai (1986 & 1989) as also in Balaji Kalyanotsavam at Bhilai and Tatanagar (1986).She has enthralled audiences with her concerts at the Banaras Hindu University Andhra Samithi Golden Jubilee Celebrations (1983) and in the Telugu Association Programmes at Lucknow and Ranchi (1986).

With her rich presentations at all the leading Music Sabhas in the southern parts of India , including the Sadguru Sri Tyagabrahma Sangeeta Sabha at Kanhangad and Calicut(1994), she has established herself as a musician of repute. Her solo concert in the prestigious Thyagaraya Aradhana Celebrations,Tiruvaiyru(1988 & 1994) is worthy of mention.

A thorough grounding in the classical base and her own indomitable spirit in the art of playing the Veena have made Smt.Subhashini what she is today.

The title "Outstanding Young Indian"(OYI) conferred on her in 1990 by JAYCEEs of Andhra Pradesh is an eloquent testimony to this.

Felicitation by KALAVANI SAMSTHA,Visakhapatnam honoured her in 1988 in recognition of her A-Grade status artiste of All India Radio.

The Visakha District Samskruthika and the Visakha Sahrudaya Sahiti chose to honour her with MADHURA VEENA BHASHINI (1986) and the Atirudrayaga Cultural Association with the honour MADHURA MAHATI(1987).Felicitations by the management commmittees of the major temples Tirupati Tirumala Devasthanam (1991), Bhadrachalam(1982&1987),Annavaram,Simhachalam of Andhra Pradesh and the Kalady Temple of Kerala have come her way.Padma Bhushan Dr.C.Narayana Reddy has greatly appreciated her art.

Smt. Kaza Subhashini Sastry had translated a part of the book written by Sri Mudigonda Veerabhadriahgaru, into English. The said part is regarding the Veena and its evolution. Presently the material is available with the official website of Viswanadha Sahithi peetham and can be accessed by all.
